Here’s what you need to know about the Season 8 premiere!
Out with the old and in with the….old. Peter Capaldi was everything we had hoped he would be and more!
First off, Chris Hardwick and Wil Wheaton…WE DON’T NEED A SHOW TO TALK ABOUT A SHOW ABOUT TO COME ON OR A SHOW FOLLOWING A SHOW THAT YOU CAN NAME “SOMETHING” TALK/TALKING. *end of rant*
After the opening dinosaur romp through Old World London, the new title sequence really let’s you know that this is going to be a totally different experience. A new theme song, and a new steampunkish opening (and Capaldi in a solar storm!), set the tone that Capaldi’s Doctor rings in a new era for Whovians everywhere.
Although the majority of the episode is The Doctor’s brain being rebooted, and Vastra and Co. detectifying their way around the city. Clara has a very hard time accepting The Doctor’s new face, and feels as if she doesn’t really know him anymore. He even has a hard time accepting the lines on his “fresh” face, and even realizes he’s seen it before. (Question answered? Check.)
Once the villain is revealed, we get straight to the action. Half-faced robots, skin balloons, and everything you REALLY love in an episode of Doctor Who.
Once the problems are finally solved, we find Clara and The Doctor in the TARDIS, complete with a new Desktop.
“I’m The Doctor. I’ve lived for over 2,000 years and not all of them were good. I’ve made many mistakes, and it’s time I corrected them.” This Doctor means business, but Clara doesn’t feel he’s the same. And leaves?!?!?!
Well, sort of.
*MAJOR SPOILER ALERT!*
With a final appearance from Matt Smith (OMG MATT SMITH CAN STILL MAKE YOU CRY!), Clara realizes he’s still the same Doctor. Sort of.
With the last few moments of the episode, we get a look at The Doctor’s creepy “girlfriend”/stalker that wants to kill him.
PLUS! The Coming Soon reveals DALEKS! YES, DALEKS!
All in all, we couldn’t be happier with the season premiere! Stay tuned for a Doctor Who filled episode of the podcast next week!

It was awesome. I loved the way Clara’s character expressed all the doubts that we fans have had about the new Doctor. And what a great message, to look beyond a person’s physical appearance. Great show!

Agreed. Great show. Capaldi staring into the camera after the robot died was way cool. All the little jokes about previous doctors great too. So who was the lady at the end?
INCREDIBLY good question, David Latham. She is uber creepy for sure.
