From just seeing the trailer I think the new Amazing Spider-Man looks good. I prefer Peter Parker in High School and I like Gwen Stacey as the love interest to Mary Jane . McGuire did a good job but there was just something about those movies that was just missing that marvel signature that you have gotten with the movies in the last 5 years.

I would argue that Spiderman 1 and 2 had plenty of “Marvel” in them. 3, however, was a travesty. I just have pretty serious misgivings about Garfield. I’ll go see it, but I’m prepared not to like him.

One of my main problems with Spider-Man 1,2 and 3 is the serious nature of the films. Peter had absolutely no sense of humor, and that just isn’t Spider-Man

Personally I think Garfield is an exponentially better Peter than McGuire. He is much younger and seems much wittier. McGuire was NOT a good spidey in my opinion. The new trailers really play up the witty banter that our favorite webslinger is known for while defeating baddies. I’m excited. to say the least.

I agree with all three of you… The Spidey in the old trilogy just didn’t have the right sense of humor that the character needed.

Though I’m a little more wary about the new film after hearing they may have changed some fundamental parts of the backstory, ie how Peter gets his powers. Guess we’ll have to wait and see.
