Live Action Jonny Quest – It’s Happening!

Are you ready for a live action adaptation of a classic cartoon from the director of the Spy Kids films?

I remember watching reruns of Jonny Quest on TBS when I was a kid and enjoying it quite a bit. It had that awesome theme song, and I remember thinking how cool a live action version would be. Apparently, my fondest dreams are going to come true.

Robert Rodriguez – best known for the El Mariachi and Spy Kids films – will direct and co-write, along with Terry Rossio. Rossio is best known for writing The Mask of Zorro and Pirates of the Caribbean. Both these guys know their way around a lighthearted adventure story, so signs bode well.
In case you’ve never heard of Jonny Quest, it was a Hanna Barbara action series following the adventures of the titular hero as he traveled around the world with his scientist father. Even though it only lasted one season in 1964, the show has rerun in syndication forever.
