New “He-Man” character is a young DC executive’s childhood dream come true

If you follow the world of DC Comics at all, then the name Geoff Johns probably rings a bell with you.  Johns is a comic book writer credited with reviving the Green Lantern comic series and making it successful again, as well as making The Flash and Aquaman relevant again.

His success on those titles didn’t go unnoticed, and Johns was made a chief creative officer at DC Comics a couple of years ago, playing a vital role in the relaunching of the entire DC Universe last year in The New 52 initiative.

Along with those 52 titles, DC has begun releasing “Digital First” comics that appear online before ever being printed to a page.  One of those titles is a revival of one of our most beloved 80’s franchises, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe.

What really makes the relaunch special for Geoff Johns however is a new character named Sir Laser Lot… a character that he created when he was only 8 years old.

“I’ve been a huge fan of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe since I was a kid, so it’s cool to write a story for this new series — not to mention teaming up with Howard Porter and John Livesay, my old Flash partners in crime,” stated Geoff Johns. “And to create an all-new character that will become an action figure – Sir Laser Lot — it’s beyond fun. I’m going to buy like 100 of them.”

The character will even appear in Toy form at San Diego Comic-Con this year.
How cool would it be to see your own childhood drawings and imaginary characters forever immortalized in plastic?
