Patent Granted: Apple owns the wedge

0

Last week Apple won a major victory over companies, mainly ASUS, whose notebook designs are based on the wedge model of the MacBook Air.

These notebooks, called ultrabooks, seem to be popping up all over in an effort to bank off the sleek design of the Air. Apple was granted a design patent, found here, and was labeled simply “Electronic device”. Although the details of the patent contain little verbage, it is full of concept images of the Air. Not only are the physical characteristics patented, but the metal casing is as well.

Now this is an interesting move for a couple of reasons, but most interesting I think is the rumored upcoming release of the redesigned MacBook line, supposedly taking on new life in wedge form.
