If you are a fan of animated super hero fare, then you may remember the Teen Titans series that aired on Cartoon Network a few years ago.

Featuring the main cast of Robin, Cyborg, Starfire, Beast Boy and Raven and sporting a pseudo-anime animation style, the show is beloved by a host of fans. While I did watch the show and enjoy it on occasion, I never truly loved it in the way that I love the current young heroes series Young Justice or the old justice League cartoon.

Speaking of Young Justice, if you’ve been watching the show on Saturday mornings then you may have seen some short skits featuring smaller, cuter versions of the Teen Titans getting in to zany shenanigans. Well, I hope that you liked them, because DC announced in a new press release that they are expanding those comedy style Teen Titans shorts into a new full length series.

Character-driven comedy is the order of the day as this new take on the super hero series focuses on the funny business that happens between saving the world and living together as teenagers without adult supervision. They may be super heroes who save the world every day … but somebody still has to do the laundry! With the ability to turn into any animal or detach their robotic limbs, teenage pranks reach a whole new level. And even super heroes have to take Driver’s Ed. to get a license – especially after wrecking the Batmobile on an unauthorized joy ride to impress a girl!

Eh, I’m not excited by this in the least. Will I watch it? Yeah, most likely I will.

I’m zany like that.

Here is one of the shorts, so you can get a feel for the tone and style of the new series:
