WWE Payback 2015 Predictions

7

It’s time for payback; WWE Payback. Here are our match by match predictions.

With tonight’s WWE Payback Pay Per View mere hours away, let’s go through the card match by match and see what could possibly go down on the first of 2 live PPV’s this month. Remember, this month the WWE Network is FREE for new subscribers for the month of May. That includes all on demand content, the Payback event, and a second live PPV this month: The Elimination Chamber.

Macho Mandow (Damien Sandow) & Curtis Axel vs. The Ascension: if you need some comedic relief tonight, here’s the match for you. Fresh off of his stint as The Miz’s stunt double Damien Mizdow, Sandow is now imitating none other than Bonesaw Macho Man Randy Savage. He’ll be tagging with the son of the late great Mr. Perfect Curt Hennig, Curtis Axel. Axel has been running wild with his #AxelMania movement (think Hulkamania without Hogan or all the adoring fans) ever since he was technically never eliminated from the Royal Rumble back in January. So, in a nutshell, it’s the 2015 version of the Mega Powers versus the 2015 version of The Road Warriors. I really don’t understand why WWE brought The Ascension up to the main roster only to bury them like they have. They began by saying they were better than the Road Warriors – and every other team in existence -and ended up losing every week while being buried by the announcers. Look for The Ascension to be further buried by a Hogan style leg drop and/or a Macho Man elbow from the top rope.

The Bella Twins vs. Naomi & Tamina Snuka: I really like Naomi’s new attitude and the return of the daughter of “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka, Tamina. I see the two of them defeating Nikki & Brie, which will hopefully result in Naomi getting a shot at Nikki’s Divas Championship.

Cesaro & Tyson Kidd vs. The New Day (2 out of 3 falls Tag Team Chamionship match): With The New Day just recently gaining the tag titles from Kidd & Cesaro, I don’t see them dropping the belts right back to them so soon. I like both of these teams right now, I just pine for a renaissance in the tag division – the likes of which have not been seen since the Attitude Era.

Neville vs. King Bad News Barrett: On one side you have Neville, the high-risk-taking man that gravity forgot, and on the other is the 2015 King of the Ring winner, Wade Barrett. I’ve enjoyed watching Neville since his recent main roster debut, and great as his high flying moves are, they’re becoming a little formulaic and predictable in my opinion. This will be a close one, but I see Barrett pulling out the victory with a well timed Bull Hammer elbow.

Dolph Ziggler vs. Sheamus: I’m pulling for Ziggler like I always do on this one. If there’s anyone that deserves to be on top in the company, it’s him. Ziggler will get revenge after being forced to kiss the posterior of Sheamus after their “Kiss Me Arse” match at Extreme Rules.

Rusev vs. John Cena (“I Quit” United States Championship match):  I’m not what you’d call a Cena fan, but I think he’ll win and here’s why: His weekly open challenge for the U.S. title is a perfect opportunity for newcomers and underutilized talent to get in the ring with the man that has been on top in WWE for over 10 years. It’s been my favorite segment on Raw for weeks now and for it to end so soon at the hands of Rusev would be detrimental to the show.

Ryback vs. Bray Wyatt: I only think Wyatt will win due to the fact that I don’t see WWE’s creative team taking Ryback’s character anywhere.  As for Wyatt, why on earth have him go one on one with The Undertaker at Wrestlemania if you’re just going to shuffle him around the mid-card with a match that goes nowhere? I’ve enjoyed his unique character, but his vague gobbledygook monologues are easy to tune out and take the story nowhere.

Seth Rollins vs. Randy Orton vs. Roman Reigns vs. Dean Ambrose WWE World Heavyweight Championship match: With another pay per view only 2 weeks away, I don’t think there’s any way Rollins will be losing his championship. Also keep in mind that if Kane allows Rollins to lose, he will lose his job as Director of Operations. It seems the odds are ever in Seth’s favor, and I’m ok with that. Reigns and Ambrose don’t seem quite ready to be champion, and Orton has held the title a higher number of times than I was taught to count.

So, there you have it. I’d love to hear your own thoughts and predictions for Payback in the comments below or on Facebook or Twitter.  Getting a conversation going is what makes this the most fun – more fun than drop kicking someone in the face. Which you shouldn’t do. Unless they deserve it.  Plunk out!

Im not understanding the buryment, if you will, of the Ascension and Neville or any other NXT talent when they hit the main roster. It hasn’t been real bad for Neville but still… I hope they take the title from Rollins and put it on either Orton or Ambrose personally but that’s not gonna happen. The Rollins thing dont work for me. They’ve done this Rusev undefeated thing before with Vladamire Koslov and where is he, most likely where Rusev will be soon!!! Bryan is out and CM Punk is to quote Raven “NEVERMORE”, which leaves us with nobody really except Wyatt as they’ve basically made him nothing and he could be so big BIG!!! I think the creative team they have is garbage!!
