A Celebration of the Past in the Near Future

Back To The Future

November 12th is the 59 year anniversary of that dark and stormy night in Hill Valley when lightning hit the clock tower at precisely 10:04 p.m. While the clock hasn’t run since, time has certainly marched on. Next year marks the 30th anniversary of that quaint little piece from the 1980’s, Back to the Future.

My love for this film franchise knows no bounds and is well-documented. Give Episode 128 of the JustUs Geeks podcast a listen to hear Josh reveal my Back to the Future fan page (www.angelfire.com/tn/88mph) as his Jam of the Week. (Go easy on it. It hasn’t been updated in 16 years.) In my youth I would watch my VHS copies of the trilogy every day and could recite them word for word. Marty’s red t-shirt is as iconic as Indiana Jones’ hat in my book.

Needless to say, I’m hoping Universal has big plans for the anniversary. I could take up quite a bit of your time naming what I’d like to see: a theatrical re-release, a live tour of Alan Silvestri’s phenomenal score, a release of the cartoon series on Blu-ray, the grand opening of The Cafe 80’s, an arcade re-release of Wild Gunman (it’s like a baby’s toy), and a 2015 DeLorean to name a few. Granted, a few of these are far-fetched, but a future boy can dream, can’t he?

Now that I’ve confessed my undying love for these movies in a public forum, we’d like to hear from you. What do these films mean to you? What would you like to see happen as part of the anniversary? Will inside out jeans be the fashion craze of 2015? Let us know in the comments or on Twitter.

Great read! Your fan site is…fabulous. I’d like some of Marty’s shoes, but the ones released a few years ago were ridiculously priced… Hope to see more from you on here, Eric!
